Emily Ilseng, LMFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and the therapist behind Texas Rooted Therapy!

I’m a therapist born and raised in Texas, and Texas Rooted Therapy reflects what I value most—steady support, meaningful connection, and care that feels grounded. I offer therapy for individuals, couples, and teens seeking support through life’s transitions and challenges. My approach blends practical guidance with a warm, relational style—helping you slow down, feel understood, and move forward with intention.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas Tech University and my Master’s degree in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. I’ve also completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 training and am certified in PREPARE/ENRICH premarital counseling. These trainings allow me to support couples in strengthening communication, deepening connection, and building a relationship foundation that feels steady, meaningful, and lasting.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and traveling to new places whenever I get the chance. I also enjoy attending workout classes, staying active, and finding little rhythms that help me reset. And lately, I’ve fallen into a new hobby obsession—needlepoint! I believe balance, connection, and rest are essential — and I try to practice what I encourage clients to explore.
